Kacie grew up in a small rural town in Northwestern Wisconsin. Her interest in science and medicine began early on and she dreamed of becoming a dermatologist since she was in the eighth grade. She moved to California and got her esthetician license at the age of eighteen and worked her way through her undergrad studies at a holistic, organic spa (Petite Spa) in Santa Monica. Here, she developed a love for reading labels, organic living and the love of plants.
She took a Plant Medicine course at UCSC and had her first real taste of Chinese Medicine. Upon the discovery that she could learn to heal people with plants, she went down the Chinese Medicine rabbit hole and decided to move back to Santa Monica and attend Emperor's College.
During the academically and psychologically challenging four-and-a-half-year acupuncture program, Kacie developed digestive disorders that went undiagnosed by Western medicine. When she finally received a diagnosis of SIBO and H. pylori, she began to research and decide to use what she was learning in school to avoid the standard Western treatment of antibiotics and a PPI inhibitor. She learned how to use food, herbs and stress management to alleviate her symptoms. Because of this, she LOVES working with patients who suffer from digestive ailments and stress management issues.
Kacie has been practicing yoga for over ten years and has found this to be a vital component to maintaining physical, emotional and spiritual balance.
After living in Wisconsin for sixteen years, she has retired from the snow and LOVES the sun, the beach and going for bike rides around her beautiful Costa Mesa neighborhood.
She loves to travel and explore new places (like many people do), especially to try local cuisine. She LOVES to cook using whole food ingredients and enjoys working with her patients to teach them how easy it can be to cook healthy and nourishing meals. She's a big advocate for the 80/20 rule where 80% of the time she eats a modified paleo, plant-centric diet that includes high-quality proteins BUT also enjoys her wine and trying new restaurants 20% of the time.
An essential concept of Chinese Medicine is 'finding balance' which is exactly what Kacie strives to do with each of her patients, helping them modify their lifestyle into one that helps them live healthier, happier, and wealthier.
